The photovoltaic technology, developed in the fifties of the last century in space programmes, has progressively extended also to several terrestrial applications, with clear advantages both of a strategic nature, such as diversification of energy supply sources and environmental protection.
In addition, the modularity, reliability and easy maintenance of photovoltaic systems make solar energy an easily accessible energy source with moderate environmental impact.
All these factors indicate how this energy source, and the technology that allows its use, can be considered one of the most interesting in the medium and long term.
